Mr. Schmitt has over 25 years of institutional investment management experience serving in a variety of roles including fixed income analyst, portfolio manager, and investment manager research. He rejoined Verus in 2023 and serves as a member of the manager research group, where he is responsible for research, analysis, and evaluation of fixed income investment managers.
Prior to joining the manager research group, Mr. Schmitt served as Director of Research with AndCo Consulting where he was responsible for leading the team responsible for fixed income research, leading the asset allocation and portfolio construction process, and providing in-depth research, analysis, and support to the firm’s consulting team.
Prior to that, Mr. Schmitt served as Senior Associate Director with Verus where he was responsible for overseeing the firm’s fixed income manager research efforts. Previously, he served as a Treasury Investment Manager at both Nike, Inc. and Cisco Systems where he was responsible for managing the firms’ investment portfolios and executing the firm’s foreign exchange transactions.
Mr. Schmitt graduated from the University of Portland with a master’s degree (MBA) in business administration and from Portland State University with a bachelor of arts (BA) in economics.
