Mr. Santopadre’s primary responsibilities at Verus include constructing and managing discretionary portfolios, performing research and analysis, and working as part of the investment team on the strategy and process for the firm.
Prior to joining Verus in 2022, Mr. Santopadre was a portfolio manager for CalPERS and primarily responsible for internally-managed global equity portfolios, including managing equity, cash, and futures exposures, evaluating performance, electing on corporate actions, and developing strategies for investment in theory and implementation. He oversaw the implementation of global equity transition activity where he made significant contributions to CalPERS’ ability to manage large, complex trading activity. Previously, he was an investment analyst at AssetMark in the portfolio management group, serving as the lead analyst on the platform’s proprietary fund-of-fund mutual funds and model portfolios.
Mr. Santopadre graduated from Dartmouth College with a bachelor of arts degree (BA) in economics modified with psychology. He also played baseball for the Big Green and won an Ivy League championship during his tenure. He is a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charterholder and member of the CFA Institute.
